I browsed around for some search engine submittors, but they seem to be very expensive. Are there any free websites that submit your domain to search engines? I am looking for a good one that is worth using and that sends my website to some of the best and numerous search engines. Thank you!
I want to know how the Yahoo Search Engine can be restored to normal when a spyware and/or other viruses affected the system. I have been downloading some anti-spyware programs, such as Spybot, to reverse the effects and I want to know what applications I can used to turn the search engine back to normal. I have my Yahoo Search Engine results mixed with different web addresses. Thanks.

Search Engine Optimisation is carried out to gain higher rankings for a website. To do this, the site’s existing pages are modified so that they match search engine’s ranking algorithm. SEO is a time intensive and a long term procedure and takes time in delivering concrete results.
Ethical search engine optimisation is following SEO practices that are acceptable to the search engines. Unethical practices include creating link farms, building doorway or cloaking pages, purchasing links, using multiple domains with similar content, and using automated software to trick the search engines. These unethical practices produce contrary results and harm the website in the long run.
When SEO is carried out while working with the search engines and by abiding by the search engine rules, these practices are termed as ethical SEO practices. Semantic SEO is also one of the ethical SEO techniques that are recognized by the search engines.
Semantic based Search Engine Optimisation or Latent Semantic Indexing is a technique where first the content is carefully analyzed to sort out a list of keywords that are used for SEO purposes instead of focusing on a single keyword. This is done to ensure the relevancy of the content when it is displayed in the browser. As all the major search engines recognize semantic SEO, it helps to rank the website naturally in the search engines. It is a safer technique to use and much preferred than the Spam techniques, which can get your website penalised.

Search engines acts as a bridge between millions of web pages and web users. Without search engines, millions of web pages which are the unlimited source of information remain hidden for all of us. Can you imagine looking for information or a webpage on the internet without the help of a Search engine? All our attempts will be a failure if we are not using a popular search engine.
Search engines are the only source to find reliable information, which are scattered, in millions of web pages. Search Engines work continuously to produce valuable search results for the internet users. Search engine crawlers work 24X7 to index all the pages available on the World Wide Web. All these pages are linked each other via links. If one page exists independently, without any links pointing towards it, it will remain hidden from the search engines.
Search engines find a web site through the links placed by these web sites on other websites. When the search engines spider or bot visits a particular page it looks for further links after analyzing the web page. If your website links to some very popular pages will be seen by these Search engines as a valuable source of information. The inbound and outbound links given on your website, your site is providing and the keywords mentioned in the WebPages are also an important source of information for search engines. With these keywords and links and other search engines criteria for indexing web pages, they are able to produce relevant results from millions of web pages.
Search engines regularly update their database with the updated information they fetch from millions of web pages around the globe. The information gathered is stored in a database format for future use. These regular updating periodically make search engines most reliable and updated source of information.
Google and Yahoo are the most trusted search engines all over the world as they have the most regular updates and the algorithms are most researched and up to the mark. Searchboth.com is now presenting Google and yahoo together in your search box. Google and Yahoo results can be seen side by side on a single screen without opening multiple browsers again and again.
cuts out the time and hassle involved in searching both Google and Yahoo at the same time.
Links are what seem to make the internet go ‘round and they certainly make it quick and easy to get from one page to another, or follow up on some background information on offer. However, when it comes to optimising your website and ranking well with major search engines like Google you will benefit from knowing as much as possible about the different links you can incorporate into your website’s design, and what each one can achieve.
The two main types of links your website should have to ensure its search engine optimisation, are one way links and reciprocal links.
One way links are exactly what they sound like, a link which is only a one way street, but the direction of that linking street is what is important to your website’s optimisation success, when all roads lead to your site. While one way links seem to be going against the grain of the interconnected nature of the internet, this sort of link building can actually be highly beneficial if you can achieve it in the first place.
However, the reason why one way links are so beneficial is actually the same reason they can be so hard to secure – having one way links, coming into your website means that your site is somewhere worth being, and therefore somewhere worth linking to. This is what search engines like to see as they only want to rank sites well which will be helpful to their searchers and if numerous other web users have deemed your site useful enough to link to, then the search engine gives this a lot of weight when determining your ranking.
To achieve one way links to your website though, you have to put in the hard work as there are no shortcuts to make users think your website is useful and informative when it isn’t. But it’s not impossible, as a dedicated SEO expert should be able to help your website reap the benefits of one way links.
Reciprocal links to your website however, are those which you actively seek from other websites, in return for your site linking back to theirs too. In reciprocating links to and from your own website, you are actively choosing to be associated with these other sites. This is why reciprocal links can actually sometimes do more harm than good to your site, because quality – as always – is more important than quantity.
This means that the websites you reciprocate links with must be relevant to your own website, company, business and online presence as while linking between sites is seen as a good thing by most search engines, this is only true if it is helpful to your website visitors. Reciprocating links with websites similar to your own will mean that the sites you link to will be just as helpful and relevant to your visitors as your own site, therefore in recommending your site to search engine users by awarding it a high ranking, the search engine knows there is plenty of useful, helpful and relevant information there for its searchers.
Building links into, and into and out of your website can help you move steadily up the most popular search engine rankings for your keywords. However, if overused or used incorrectly, link building can actually have the opposite effect, so now that you know the benefits of increasing your link popularity, seek out expert SEO advice on how to make links work for your site.

Search Engines have evolved into a new consumer, communications and marketing channel. Google, Yahoo and MSN serve 213 million searches a day.
In fact, 9 out of 10 internet surfers use a Search Engine to start their internet journey. Therefore, if your website doesn’t have visibility in the engines, you are missing significant volumes of traffic.
Natural vs. Paid for Listings
There are essentially two listings within a Search Engine Results Page (SERP): the Natural listings (on the left) and the Paid for listing (on top and on the right).
Natural listings are the results the engine believes to be the most relevant sites to your search. The natural listings consistently receive over 70% of consumer clicks. Paid for listings are the ads served by Advertisers, who have bid on the term searched for by the consumer.
The Natural listings therefore list all available websites in the World Wide Web, while the Paid for listings only serve links by relevant Advertisers willing to pay for their spot, and thus high visibility in the engines.
To increase Reach, advertisers can pay for ads on the Search Engines themselves, as well as their local listings, mobile listings and their Content Network of websites.
Pay per Click (PPC). Pay only for Visitors
Unlike other marketing channels where you pay for the number of people who see your ad, in pay per click advertising (PPC) you only pay when someone clicks on your ads and is driven through to your site.
• 75% of users search for goods and services through a Search Engine.
• PPC has the lowest cost per lead compared to other Direct Marketing methods.
• Pay per click advertising is relevant to what the individual is searching for – targeting them at the right moment and mood.
• Pay per click is 100% accountable.
• Advertisers can know the cost of each conversion in real-time, and campaigns can be instantly optimised for maximum ROI.
To get visibility in the paid for listings you can set up a PPC campaign for your website yourself, or by commissioning a specialist Search Engine Marketing agency like Tug.
To get visibility in the Natural listings you need to optimise your website – this is called Search Engine Optimisation. Again this is where you need to commission a specialist agency like Tug.
What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?
Search engine Optimisation, or SEO as it’s commonly known as, is an online marketing strategy that involves designing, writing and coding your entire website with the intention of enabling search engines to index your site easily and efficiently. The sole aim and objective is for it to rank higher for keywords relevant to your business. Optimising a website is critical to gaining visibility on the organic or natural (left hand side) search results (SERP’s) of search engines.
SEO, is done in two stages, known primarily as on page and off page. On page involves the website itself and fundamentally evolves around the design, build and copy laid out within the actual site. Off page relates to ongoing SEO development and includes link building campaigns, news and article submissions, paid directory submissions and joining discussion forums that relate to your chosen industry. The latter is basically about gaining 3rd party exposure of your website.
On Page Factors
• Keyword mining
• Keyword density checks
• Credible copywriting
• Meta tags scripting
• Clean and valid mark-up (HTML)
• Link management
Off Page Factors
• Free / paid directory submission
• Article and news submission
• Press release distribution
• Reciprocal link marketing
• Inbound link building
• Digital signatures
Using Search Engine Marketing to meet your Communication Objectives
Consumers using a Search Engine are primarily in two sets of mind: ‘Research’ mode and ‘Ready to act/buy/sign up’ mode. From a marketer’s point of view they are at different stages of the Purchase Cycle.
PPC campaigns should be set up with this in mind. Different campaigns can be geared for different objectives – for example one for Awareness and one for Sales. The Awareness campaign should be optimized for Reach, concentrating on the highest number of clicks at the cheapest possible price. The Sales campaign conversely should be optimized for sales volume and cheapest Cost per Acquisition (CPA).
Search Engine Optimisation will primarily meet your Awareness and Traffic objectives, as the campaign usually concentrates on fewer, broader keyterms. But keep in mind that this broader Search might ultimately lead to a sale as the Searcher moves through the Purchase Cycle. Remember to optimize your Meta Descriptions (the description in the SERP) with the consumer in mind.

Buying or leasing an existing website can be a very effective and relatively easy way to make your business or company’s online presence known. As you have probably already realised, having a website and being able to be found on the internet are important factors of your business success, so it makes sense to utilise an already successful and functional website for your own business.
There are actually many people out there who buy websites much like people buy investment properties – sites which are structurally sound, but have room for improvement and once they’re spruced up a little they have the ability to turn a profit once again. Online, this profit is found through adding ads to investment websites, upping the traffic to those sites and then reaping the rewards from the advertising.
However, if you are looking for a website for your own business or as an investment, the basic structure you need and the additions you will make are very similar and here’s how to go about it. First decide whether you are looking for a website which is simply informative, or one which also allows for visitors to shop online, this will also be determined by the sort of business you run as some products and most services cannot be purchased over the internet anyway.
An online store is one of the major structural aspects of a website you are looking to buy and much the same way you would lean towards an investment property with a new kitchen rather than a daggy lime green one, so too is it easier to build and adapt an existing online store, rather than establish the security, shopping carts and payment options from scratch.
The remaining work website investors will put into a newly purchased site is regarding its search engine optimisation. However, when you are looking to purchase a website for your business, it is important to remember that a lot of what can be detrimental to a website’s optimisation, can actually have to do with web design.
Search engine optimisation is not only about adding the right number of the right keywords to a website and expecting Google to see this as SEO. The website’s design, the programming, the layout and even the server systems can all affect that website’s optimisation and if you’re unsure how to check on any or all of these things before purchasing a website, have an SEO expert check out behind the scenes, because you don’t want to have to go knocking through walls later.
As with any investment there are pitfalls and surprises which can cost you a lot of time and money down the track and ‘buyer beware’ is just as relevant when purchasing an investment online as it is down the street. So in much the same way a property investor may bypass the self-serving real estate agents trying to move properties no one wants, and go straight to a builder or developer for something structurally sound form the beginning, there are also opportunities for your business to buy its website ‘off the plan’ too.
SEO companies in the UK would rather see the internet populated with properly optimised, useful and informative sites and while you can seek their advice on your website purchase, there are also SEOers in the UK who build websites solely with optimisation in mind, waiting for businesses just like yours to add your name to them.
